III. The Solution: Love and Forgive Like Jesus 1. Looking at Christ’s Example Luke 23:34 “Father, forgive them.” Jesus forgave: ● without conditions ● without revenge ● out of love.
3. Cultivating Christian Love 1 Peter 4:8 “Love covers a multitude of sins.”
Conclusion The lack of love and forgiveness produces:● division ● spiritual coldness ● a weakened testimony of the Church. But when believers love and forgive like Jesus: ● the church becomes united ● God works with power ● the world sees Christ.
James 4:6 “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Pride: ● prevents forgiveness ● breaks relationships ● creates conflicts.
4. Forgetting the Forgiveness Received from God When we forget how much God has forgiven us, we become harsh toward others. Matthew 18:21–35 (The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant) The servant’s problem was that he did not appreciate the forgiveness he had received.
2. Practicing Forgiveness Daily Colossians 3:13 “Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another.” Forgiveness is: ● a decision ● an act of obedience ● a sign of spiritual maturity.
Conclusion The lack of love and forgiveness produces:● division ● spiritual coldness ● a weakened testimony of the Church. But when believers love and forgive like Jesus: ● the church becomes united ● God works with power ● the world sees Christ.
2. Loss of Testimony Before the World The world watches how Christians behave. John 13:35 “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” If love is absent: ● the world does not see Christ ● the Church’s testimony becomes weak.
3. Lack of Spiritual Maturity An immature believer: ● is easily offended ● remembers wrongs ● reacts emotionally. 1 Corinthians 3:3 “For you are still carnal… for where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you…”
3. Blocking the Work of God Internal conflicts quench the work of the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4:30–31 “Let all bitterness… be put away from you.”
4. Spiritual Coldness When love disappears: ● prayer becomes weak ● fellowship disappears ● believers grow spiritually cold. Revelation 2:4 “You have left your first love.”
II. The Effects of the Lack of Love and Forgiveness in the Church 1. Division in the Church Lack of forgiveness produces: ● factions ● conflicts ● tensions. 1 Corinthians 1:10 “That there be no divisions among you.”
2. Accumulated Bitterness When a person does not forgive, bitterness begins to grow in the heart. Hebrews 12:15 “See to it that no root of bitterness springs up.” Bitterness: ● destroys love ● poisons relationships ● influences others as well.
